Cooling Tower Performance Test

teste.JPG

What is performance testing?

When a company purchases industrial equipment, it is acquiring what was foreseen in the project, agreed and negotiated. Some equipment, due to its functioning, can be easily verified (guaranteed) that it meets the terms of the project. As for other equipment, it is not so easy to detect if what was purchased was actually delivered.

Water cooling towers fall into the second case, especially when the customer does not have (due to not needing, or for any other reason) control over the part of the process involving the cooling towers.

For this, AW Group has qualified technical staff and tools necessary to test the cooling towers, with the objective of measuring their real yield (performance) under normal operating conditions, without the need to switch off the equipment for extended periods.

New Cooling Towers

When a new cooling tower is purchased, a performance test may be requested to verify that this tower actually meets the intended design. When the test is carried out right after the installation of the tower, it is possible not only to certify that the tower works, but also that it meets the conditions foreseen in the project and that it was correctly dimensioned for the application. In this way, operation and/or maintenance problems are prevented in the equipment that the tower will service within the process, avoiding unnecessary expenses.

Cooling Towers in Operation

When the customer has the towers already installed and in full operation, it is possible to know with the performance test what the current efficiency is and compare it with the project conditions. Thus, the customer has a real idea of the performance of their cooling towers and can make the decision to plan maintenance as needed. With the test, the client also obtains a comparison between before and after maintenance, and thus transform expenses into investment, knowing what gains will be obtained at this stage, for example.
